Don’t Do Anything But Drive When You’re Driving

photo c/o Grey Hatcher

Ontario has now made it clear that distracted driving is a serious issue and will be dealt with accordingly.
New fines have now been added to the proposed legislation. It is expected to pass this spring, and has support from all the parties. Here’s what you should know moving forward (no pun intended):

  • ·         Distract driving fines increased to $280 from $155 (Tuesday – today) regardless of the legislation.
  • ·         Fines for using cellphones while driving range from $300 to $1,000, plus three demerit points (according to the changes in the Highway Traffic Act)
  • ·         Fines for opening a door in a cyclist’s path range from $300 to $1,000, plus three demerit points. Motorists have to stay one metre away from cyclists on the road.
  • ·         Fines for cyclists not using required reflectors and lights range from $60 to $500.

Travel The World { Tag }

Found this tag off Zia’s blog “Bits of Days” and thought it would be appropriate since it wasn’t too long ago since I got back from travelling!

1. Where are you from in the world?

I was born, raised, and still live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

2. Have you been overseas? When/Where?

I’ve been overseas numerous of times. I’ve been to Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, Brunei, Germany, and Italy.

3. Do you prefer summer or winter? Why?

I prefer to travel to a country when it’s summer. It’s easier to pack lighter, it’s more comfortable to just wear variations of t-shirts and shorts, and it just feels more lively.

4. Summer or winter fashion?

I adore both types of fashion. Love crops and high-waisted shorts in the summer, and tons of layering in the winter. But I don’t like humidity or having to wear a jacket.

5. Where is somewhere you would love to travel too?

I’d love to visit the UK, South Korea, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Hawaii, or Australia.

6. Name your essential makeup items for the beach

When I go to the beach, I intend to swim, and makeup does not last when the waves hit your face. The only thing I would even think to grab is probably a waterproof brow pencil because God knows even the fish in the water would die from fright from my sad brows.

7. Are you currently saving up for a trip?

I’m always saving for a trip.

8. Do you like/dislike traveling?

I absolutely love travelling. I love being submerged in culture – language, food, religion… everything. I’ve been travelling since I was 3.

9. Name a place in the world you would love to shop.

There isn’t a specific place, because I’m an avid shopper. I’m sure I can satisfy my shopping hunger in just about any country.

10. What accent in the world is your favorite to hear?

British and French. Easily.

♡ TUTORIAL: My Everyday Eye Look!

Who says you can do a smokey eye look when you have monolids?

Products used:

  • Pur cosmetics Cease Crease primer
  • Rimmel duo-eyeshadow in Cream Caramel
  • Covergirl eyeshadow in Brown Smoulder
  • Mac Fluidliner in Blacktrack
  • Mac Liquidlast in Point Black
  • Urban Decay Big Fatty mascara
  • False lashes from Ebay

Tip: Using a light colour in your inner tear-duct not only brightens, but gives the effect of larger eyes. False eyelashes also help to open your eyes more.

♡ DIY: How to use studs!

Looking for a way to make your clothing more edgy? … or just less plain? Try using studs to jazz up your articles of clothing. It’s really easy, and you don’t need anything other than the pieces of clothing you want to DIY, studs, and a pair of scissors or butter knife with a hard (not sharp) edge.

Tip: Different types of studs give different effects. (ie. cone studs look more modern, while pyramid studs are more like 80’s rock)

Have fun with it.

♡ DIY: How to use hemming tape!

As a DIY enthusiast, it is unfortunate that I don’t enjoy hand sewing at all. I’m constantly doing clothing projects that require hemming. I don’t know about you but I get easily frustrated when it comes to hemming pants and skirts.

So I’m sharing my lazy secret with you all: hemming tape! It’s inexpensive, easy to use, and will last just as long as hand sewn seams.

Again, I picked up this hemming tape from R.J. McCarthy’s but you can also buy  it from any craft store (such as Michael’s) or Walmart.

♡ OOTD: Floral skirt, thigh-hi socks

I managed to record two videos in one day! Hurray! It was way easier to edit this one though. Had a really fun day with my Dad and sisters (Mom was at work!) at Pacific Mall.

In terms of food/drinks, I suggest driving a little further to One Markham Place. Their food court is known for their variety and exquisite taste. It is home to my absolute favourite bubble tea: Japanese-style burnt coffee, and can be found at Tasty House.
